BizAway raises €10 million in a Series A round

BizAway

BizAway, the italy-based business travel scaleup, announces the closing of a Series A round of €10 million, following the €4.5 million raised in 2020. The round is led by tech investment funds Gellify, Digitech and EXOR Seeds, who are investing alongside other existing investors including MundiVentures.

Despite the severe crisis that the travel industry has experienced due to the pandemic, BizAway has continued to grow both in economic terms, quadrupling in 2021 the turnover of 2020, and in terms of employment, hiring 30 new people for a total of 100 employees in its five European offices (two in Italy in Spilimbergo and Milan, two in Spain in Barcelona and Vigo, and one in Albania in Shkodra)

“This funding gives us a strong foothold in international business travel and will allow us to implement our ambitious plan, improve and integrate new features, while allowing us to invest even more in our team, both technical and operational, and open two more offices in Europe by the end of the year” – said Flavio Del Bianco, CTO and Co-founder.

Among the latest integrations on the platform, BizAway has developed with Riskline a Travel Risk Management service, which shows the location of travellers on a dynamic map and allows them to manage possible risks, a calculator for CO2 offsetting in collaboration with Eden Reforestation Project and Squake, and partnerships with international train carriers that enable users to manage all bookings and post booking activities independently.

“BizAway’s strength stands in its innovative nature that allows it to manage the complexity of business travel for large companies, providing them with a complete, easy and full-service experience. Today more than ever, companies need to digitise their processes for business trips, in order to streamline procedures and allow companies to cut costs without giving up anything” concludes Luca Carlucci, CEO and Co-founder.

In early 2022 BizAway officially became the first TMC dedicated to business travel to obtain B-Corp certification worldwide, was awarded the LUXlife Travel and Tourism Awards 2022 as the Best Travel Booking Solution for 2022 and was ranked number one in Europe in the business travel sector in the FT1000 ranking by the Financial Times and Statista.

Since its inception, more than 150,000 bookings have been made, saving more than €3 million for its 650+ corporate customers (Freeda, Scalapay, European Cricket, BDO, Vortice, Cimolai, Satispay, Perrigo, WeRoad, EJU, Talent Garden, Sielte and many more)
