Legal Army is a company founded by Natalia Martos, who was the legal and privacy director at Tuenti, as well as the digital and privacy legal director of the PRISA Group. She was later a partner at Andersen Tax & Legal and Counsel at Pérez-Llorca, having created in both firms the “Privacy, Intellectual Property/Information Technology and Digital Business” practice. Founded in May 2018, Legal Army takes its name from the objective of “getting ahead” with only the brand, since the DNA of the company is different from that of traditional firms. “We are an army of lawyers at the service of our clients,” says the head of the Legal Army.

Natalia Martoshas been awarded the Cross of Civil Merit with a white badge from the Ministry of the Interior for her collaboration in the fight against cyberterrorism during her time in Tuenti. Subsequently, she was awarded the Legal500 prize, which is given to the 70 best legal directors in the Iberian Peninsula. Furthermore, during her career in the Legal Army, she has been awarded by Iberian Lawyers, as the best lawyer in technology law for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Business Model

As the board points out, Legal Army is a provider of alternative legal services that, “using a disruptive business model based on technological empowerment, allows for excellence in results. The main problems to which Legal Army offers a solution, as opposed to traditional legal service providers (traditional law firms and large consulting firms) are related to efficiency in both work and business, maximizing the cost-profit ratio”. Traditional firms and consultancies have a billing system based on billable hours in which they employ many lawyers, using large infrastructures that generate a high cost and low profit, which entails the transfer of these costs to the client. This model ignores technological evolution and does not adapt to the needs of the new economy.

The Legal Army model arises in the face of the traditional one, where a limited number of highly qualified lawyers use the technological solutions available today to offer better results than traditional providers at a much lower cost, and in a transparent and agile manner. This business model does not require large infrastructures and therefore allows maximizing economic efficiency.

Along with this, the areas covered by the firm range from business law, intellectual property, technology, commercial, data protection, information security, to the area of compliance and civil, commercial.

The main clients that Legal Army has include mature startups with a turnover of more than 1M, technological SMEs or those with disruptive business models, multinationals of all kinds as well as Íbex companies that need to outsource part of their contractual legal burden or almost all the tasks managed by their innovation, artificial intelligence, Data and Analytics or digital transformation departments.

Currently, the company developes its activity in Spain and the rest of the European Union countries, such as the United Kingdom; and beyond the old continent, Legal Army has expanded to the USA, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia.
