Incapto Coffee, the startup that challenges the status quo in the coffee sector, has closed a funding round in which it has raised 500,000 euros in a record time of 7 hours. The funding round has been carried out through the equity crowdfunding platform The Crowd Angel. In addition, the founding partners have provided 200,000 euros, completing the round in a total of 700,000 euros.

The peculiarity of this financing round is that it has not been addressed to financial investors but, through the startup investment platform The Crowd Angel, it has been fully backed by 96 people who believe in the project and the mission of Incapto Coffee: to eradicate coffee capsules by offering a practical, economic and sustainable solution.

Incapto Coffee started at the beginning of this year with an initial investment of 500,000 euros, contributed by the three entrepreneurial partners Francesc Font, Quim Mach, and Bea Mesas, as well as by business angels (such as Josep Casas -Naturitas-, Julio Villalobos – ESADE- and Alex Saiz -Microapps). It is based in Barcelona Activa, which has given the company a major boost, and has the roasting factory in Alcover.

The funds obtained by the company in this first round, a total of 1.2 million euros, will allow it to deploy commercially throughout the Spanish territory at both B2C and B2B levels. The forecasts of the startup indicate that it will begin its international expansion in 2021, initially in Italy, Portugal, and France. Likewise, Incapto Coffee will use the funds acquired to develop new models of coffee machines or create pop-ups in shopping centres.

The company targets the domestic public and also extends its strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and high quality to the corporate world. In the complex scenario in which it was born, the Barcelona-based startup is presented as a ‘green shoot’, a firm that already has more than 300 subscribers and is present in more than 40 companies and catering establishments: clients such as Heura, a vegetable protein brand, and Holaluz, a green energy company, have joined the Incapto philosophy.

Incapto Coffee has achieved a monthly turnover of more than 50,000 euros in just four months. By the end of this year, Incapto Coffee expects to exceed 440,000 euros in sales, while the turnover forecast for 2021 is 4.5 million euros with positive EBITDA.

The company’s estimates anticipate a strong growth by the end of this year, forecasting a great impact of Black Friday and the Christmas campaign. The boom in automatic coffee machines, such as the one offered by Incapto Coffee, as well as the Bundle model (coffee machine plus specialty coffee) proposed by the startup, fit perfectly with the demands of an increasingly responsible and conscious consumer who wants to enjoy a quality and healthy coffee without losing comfort.

Francesc Font, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of Incapto Coffee, states that “we are absolutely overwhelmed and very proud of the success this crowdfunding campaign has had. Having achieved this in such a short time and receiving so many contributions from people who are not financial investors, but simply people who believe in Incapto Coffee, pushes us to continue in our efforts to revolutionize the world of coffee”.

The Barcelona-based startup was created to challenge the status quo in the coffee sector. Its innovative business proposal is channelled through the sale of a super-automatic coffee machine and a subscription system for coffee beans. The system allows for the tasting of freshly ground coffee, with the immediacy and convenience associated with capsules, but with a more real product and without generating waste.
