The Cuatrecasas Accelerator program for legaltech startups and startups with high legal complexity opens registration for its fifth edition. Cuatrecasas Acelera, the first startup accelerator program in Europe promoted by a law firm, which has promoted almost 30 projects already, will digitalize a large part of this year’s.

To ensure the level of 30 projects already, will digitalize a large part of this year’s program. To ensure the level of the selection and mentoring processes in digital format, Cuatrecasas will use the most advanced technology. This year’s edition, focusing on blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies, will award the six selected startups a wallet of 80 blockchain-based tokens that can be exchanged for legal services. Netmentora, Microbank and Alastria will collaborate in the program.

The selection process, to be carried out in digital format, will assess projects with innovative solutions for business law, with a technological foundation and with a high legal complexity from other areas that offer solutions for digitalizing business and projects focused on blockchain and smart-contract technology solutions.

To participate, the startups must have a minimum viable product, offer innovative solutions and have a solid team. They must have been incorporated in the last five years. The selected projects will receive four moths of legal, business and technological support, as well as access to clients and financing. A network of mentors and experts (external to Cuatrecasas) from different business areas will also accompany the startups during the program.

Simultaneously, the Fast Track program will select two more mature legal tech or technological startups and develop use cases with them oriented towards one of the challenges established by Cuatrecasas: maximize the collective knowledge, improve productivity and efficiency through automation and blockchain, and create smart contracts applicable to business. The aim of the pilot project is to enable the companies to work and valid their initiatives in a real professional environment.

The registration period for the 5th edition is open from May 26 until July 7. On June 17, there will be a webinar information session, at which the program will be presented to interested parties, and participants from previous years will share their experience. In September, between 20 and 25 initiatives will be pre-selected to participate in the accelerator program and four startups will be pre-selected for the Fast Track program. Later in the month, the selected startups will be announced: six for the accelerator program and two for the Fast Track Program.
