Last Mile Team is a Spanish technology company focused on last mile delivery. In August 2016, Daida Gonzalez, Lis Fernandez and Angel Batalla decided to solve the problems caused by the Urban Distribution of Goods and Services by launching Last Mile Team, a startup that simultaneously offers companies of any size the ability to easily incorporate into their distribution operations a level of customer experience, optimization and visibility comparable to Amazon or Uber.

Last Mile Team matches and even surpasses the technological level of urban distribution companies with that of world leaders, without the need for the company to make a costly investment. A third of urban home deliveries are not delivered on the first try, which causes serious problems for consumers and traders, a very high cost to transport companies, the emission of an enormous amount of unnecessary pollutants into the atmosphere and a lot of traffic congestion. Last Mile solves these problems through efficient and meticulous work.

The company is a B2B SaaS that needs to make a achieve most of the investment round to be able to start operations. So far, it has not gone through any acceleration program or received capital from outside investors, although it is a path they want to explore. The founders themselves disbursed a total of 400,000 Euro to start the business, through savings and commercial bank loans at market conditions. The capital invested was used to develop the digital platform, which is currently active.

FOCUSED ON SPAIN

Last Mile Team focuses its activity in Spain, where its first pilot is already underway, providing its service to three companies and around 150 users, although, at the same time, it is exploring possibilities of opening in the US market.

Next year, it also plans to launch a vertical that will help the HORECA sector to overcome the challenges they face in urban distribution, especially now that city councils are beginning to restrict traffic in urban centers. They are also seeking to pilot their Use Case “Home Delivery of Prescription Drugs” through pharmaceutical wholesalers.

The startup has won several competitions and awards that value technological innovation, such as the Connector Startups at the eShow Barcelona. They have also entered directly in BizSpark +, Microsoft’s program, participated with ICEX and Red.es in 4YFN and Web Summit in 2017 and 2018, in Startup adVANce, by Daimler-Benz, and in an Immersion program in San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

They were part of the Spanish Pavilion in several international fairs and of an immersion mission in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. In addition, their case of “Home Delivery of Prescription Drugs” has been chosen as a finalist in the 3rd Call for the Physical Internet Award by the European Technology Platform ALICE and the Physical Internet Initiative.
