Shakers raises €14M to help businesses integrate teams of specialised talent with AI

Shakers, the workforce orchestration platform connecting companies with top tech freelancers, today announced its €14M Series A funding round. The round was led by Partech, with further investment from KFund, Brighteye Ventures, Athos Capital and Wayra.

As the rise of AI, automation and shifting work cultures are redefining how businesses operate, Shakers is building the infrastructure for a more agile, hybrid workforce. Shakers envisions a future of work where businesses can easily onboard specialised teams of tech freelancers and autonomous AI agents to collaborate, experiment, and drive new technological capabilities via complex and long-term projects. The platform empowers businesses and freelancers to automate their most frustrating workflow challenges and upgrade their productivity skills, promoting quick and effective results.

This comes at a time when the traditional IT outsourcing landscape is being reshaped, with the European market projected to grow from €180B to over €280B by 2030 as demand shifts toward more flexible, high-skill talent solutions.

Shakers was founded in 2021 in Madrid by four serial entrepreneurs – Héctor Mata (CEO), Nico de Luis (COO), Adrián de Pedro (CPO) and Jaime Castillo (CRO) – with backgrounds in AI and software development, and first-hand experience in both finding freelance work and hiring talent.

Shakers currently works with over 450 companies, including blue-chip enterprises such as Microsoft, Inditex and Telefonica. The company has grown over 6x in revenue over the past year, and is aiming to continue on an ambitious growth trajectory. With 60% of revenue coming from recurring customers and 30% of revenue generated organically from other European markets, Shakers is set to become Europe’s premier platform for sourcing tech freelancers.

The investment will be used to expand the Shakers’ platform across Europe, driving organic growth in new and existing channels in its goal to service tech freelancers and businesses across the continent. Shakers plans to double its team size in the next year to facilitate this growth, while expanding its AI agent integrations for freelancers and businesses. By 2027, Shakers will have orchestrated over 10,000 hybrid projects that redefine how companies build and scale.

Simone Riva, Partech Senior Principal, said: “At Partech, we believe that while AI is reshaping the way we work, exceptional talent will always be at the heart of the future of work. From our very first conversation, it was clear the Shakers team is building something special — a fast, intuitive platform tailored to the flexible workforce of tomorrow. They’re redefining how companies find, hire, and collaborate with top talent. We’re proud to back this visionary team and are excited to support them as they scale across Spain, Europe, and beyond.”

Redesigning the labour market

Traditional work models are failing to provide the flexibility that skilled workers are increasingly seeking, leading companies struggling to find and retain specialised tech talent. In the emerging AI-driven labour market, organizations are being pushed to transform their working models to take advantage of the technology: gaps in talent will need to be filled on-demand to support AI agents and tools, not the other way around.

At the same time, the rise of AI agents is accelerating the adoption of freelancing as the new market standard. Companies no longer need large, static teams – they need agile, highly-specialised talent that can quickly adapt to intensive projects with evolving needs. Tech freelancers are leading this transformation: as early adopters of AI tools, they are pioneers in productivity and hybrid working.

Shakers’ platform is creating a new generation of highly motivated, performance-driven tech freelancers to fill these gaps. They are best-in-class professionals who continue to seek ambitious, transformational projects, without the need to commit to a single company for a decade: Shakers refers to them as ‘freeworkers’.

Héctor Mata, Shakers CEO, said: “The convergence of AI and independent talent is not a trend – it’s a new operating model. Demand for specialised technical talent is soaring, but the traditional outsourcing model hasn’t evolved in over decades. With Shakers, we are setting a new standard for hiring: our platform acts as the new operating system for performance-driven freelancers — giving them the same benefits as traditional roles, while offering companies the agility to innovate faster. As we expand across Europe, we’re building the infrastructure layer that powers the AI-infused workplace of the future.”

Seamless orchestration

As part of Shakers’ exclusive community of 10,000+ tech freelancers, they will enjoy the same benefits as traditional employment, including embedded services for banking, insurance, productivity and more, alongside the flexibility, freedom and incentives of self-employment: this is the ‘Freelancer OS’, a new ecosystem for the first generation of freeworkers.

With its AI-powered matchmaking system, the Shakers platform is evolving how companies build freelance teams. This technology goes beyond just sourcing – it validates talent end-to-end, assessing both hard and soft skills, experience, and cultural fit through more than 1,000 data points. Integrated with Shakers Verified, their pre-vetting tool, the platform eliminates the need for early interviews and technical tests, delivering ready-to-work talent from day one. This means that companies can go from idea to fully assembled team in minutes. The Shakers AI solution helps businesses to define scopes, and then immediately assemble and manage hybrid, specialised teams on demand.
