Peoople, the social recommendation app, opens a round of financing finishing 2019 with a 600% growth in registered users thus reaching two million users in Spain. The goal is to boost its presence in Latin America, a market with great potential.
This outstanding growth is caused by a unique model in influencers marketing. There are more than 1,000 influencers who have opened a profile in Peoople and among them are well known influencers such as María Pombo, Dulceida, and AuronPlay.
Peoople users can easily find all the recommendations from their favorite influencer in the app. Recommendations their influencers have posted do not expire and can be organized efficiently through collections that each user personalizes according to their tastes. You can recommend everything in Peoople, from restaurants, books or hotels to music, beauty products or video games. Grupo Planeta becomes a shareholder of Peoople through investment in capital and media for equity. A formula that combines liquidity and promotion in the different media and platforms of the group.
“Media for equity” is a common investment formula in Spain. It occurs when a communication group invests in a startup in exchange for advertising spaces. The advertising format varies with each agreement and can be viewed in television commercials, branded content actions or radio spots. Peoople is the app to discover the best recommendations of restaurants, books, movies, series and much more thanks to your favorite friends and influencers. The project was born in 2017 by two co-founders; David Pena, current CEO, and Gonzalo Recio, Product Manager. The app is available in both iOS and Android and is also accessible via web for any user.
In less than three years, Peoople has almost 2 million users and more than 1,000 influencers. Venture capital funds such as Gate 93 or TheVentureCity have already invested in the project, the latter has included Peoople in its acceleration program. Recognized business angels such as Vincent Rosso, Tanny Kindelán or Erik Plas have also supported the project.
