Pulpo raises 8 million dollars to revolutionize vehicle fleet operations globally

Pulpo, a mobility solutions company focused on intelligent vehicle fleet management; has closed a financing round of eight million USD. The round was led by Nazca Ventures, accompanied by Femsa Ventures and other investors such as Swanlaab, Mexico Ventures, Cracks Fund and other strategic angels from the sector.

Mobility is in a profound process of transformation; fleets of vehicles will more increasingly be used to transport products and deliver food. Hundreds of millions of fleet vehicles globally face daily service interruptions, fraud, and other problems due to a lack of data – in addition to the constant and necessary challenge they face of reducing carbon emissions.

The startup, founded in 2017 by Evaristo Babé, Javier Arambarri and Pablo Sosa, seeks to be the operating system that makes fleet management more efficient, and in doing so help fleet managers play a more strategic role. To do this, the Pulpo platform centralizes all data generated by their clients’ fleets of vehicles to offer them complete control by highlighting inefficiencies via real time alerts; helping them make agile and informed decisions.

With this injection of capital, the company seeks to increase the scope of the product on several fronts, such as the management of electric vehicles, as well as functionalities related to sustainability and further enhancements in emission reduction. In addition to duplicating efforts in artificial intelligence to predict vehicle incidents, reduce costs and optimize operations. To achieve this Pulpo expects to hire more than 200 people over the next twelve months in the areas of engineering, product, sales and customer success in different regions.

Evaristo Babé highlights that one of the most important projects to promote with this round is PulpoPay, a payment method tailored to operating fleets of vehicles which promises to help companies control overall expenses, including fuel, travel expenses, and vehicle maintenance, among others; thus, helping clients to analyze the data & costs generated by their fleet in real-time. This will add to the detection and reduction of fraud, as well as management security functionalities and controls through collaboration with drivers.

Some of the clients that already work with Pulpo are DHL, Cemex, MercadoLibre, Beat, Telcel, Cervecería Nacional Boliviana, Repsol, Bureau Veritas, SGS.

From the start, Pulpo’s vision has been clear – reduce emissions to improve overall quality of life. With this perspective, they plan to continue designing operational solutions which favor the carbon footprint of their clients, while profitably continuing to reduce costs and management times.
