Velca raises € 2.1M to accelerate its expansion in Europe

The Spanish electric motorcycle startup Velia is raising capital again through the Crowdcube equity crowdfunding platformThe Spanish startup of electric motorcycles and mopeds has again attracted investment. This time 2,100,000 euros. Velca will invest the funds in international expansion, in accelerating the acquisition of new clients, as well as in product development.

The operation has been led by the business angel René de Jong and leading investors in Spain such as Tom Horsey, Hugo Arévalo and Jesús Alonso Gallo have participated. In addition, almost 700 investors have participated in this financing round on the Crowdcube equity crowdfunding platform.

Velca’s founding team comes from Voi, Europe’s leading electric scooter startup. On this occasion the CEO and founder of VOI Fredrik Hjelm has also participated in the capital increase through Crowdcube.

Velca was founded in February 2020. Since then they have delivered more than 300 electric vehicles, being since last May the leading brand in Spain in registrations of electric mopeds. In addition, Velca produces its Tramontana S model entirely in Spain since January 2021.

“The experience and involvement of our investors have been key to designing a strategy that would allow us to achieve our objectives until today,” said Emilio Froján, co-founder and CEO of Velca.
