WONOWO is the first sharing economy search engine created with the goal of bringing together all transport, accommodation and leisure options. You can find the best sharing transport or accommodation offer as a search engine without having to visit each partner one by one.
The company has a board formed by the three partners, Guillermo (CEO), Jesús (CTO) and Alejandro (financial partner), to make strategic business decisions that ensure agility and balance in making them. The full team is composed by one person in charge of marketing and digital communication, one consultant engineer, designers and web developers.
They started the business activity in May 2015, based on previous entrepreneur activity from the founders in the development of a specific collaborative economy mobile application for sharing train tables names “Comparte mesa tren”
The whole team participated in the selection of the company’s name. Bonobos are a race of monkeys that are characterized by having human traits, including generosity. In addition, they are sociable and tolerant, sharing their food in exchange for company. Bonobos are a pioneering species in the collaborative economy, so from this idea came up WONOWO’s name.
In its beginnings WONOWO was finalist on the “Gota Maestra Investor Contest” y it got the 2nd position at “YUZZ” entrepreneur programme. During this period the project has also obtained financing from several rounds of investments and the best one, WONOWO was selected “The Best App of the year 2016” by Apple, generating a greater notoriety of the company.
WONOWO is the first and only collaborative economy search engine created with the aim of bringing together all tourist options: transport, accommodation and leisure. The business model is based on two ways of income; Affiliation (usually CPC and CPL or CPA with some accommodation partners) and Advertising (CPC).
As a search engine you can find from the best offers to travel by train or car sharing to compare apartments without visiting different websites. WONOWO searches, filters and compares the best offers for a collaborative journey, allowing the user to save and live a new experience.
The company has a global offer thanks to the collaboration with its partners and its website is in different languages, even though most of our communication and marketing actions are focused on Spain. However during the 2016 and 2017 the WONOWO’s strategy is to focus on Spanish market, consolidate product, brand and customers. Then in 2018 and 2019 efforts will be dedicated to grow the business in Europe and finally from 2021 and beyond WONOWO will be introduced in the potential market of USA and the growing market from LatAM.
To start the project, Anima Ventures “company builder” invested the first € 50,000 in the company and from this moment they have obtained more financing from other ways. Thanks to the funding obtained, WONOWO has been able to achieve goals such as carrying out improvements in the usability of the Web site, developing of an innovative technology, increasing the commercial agreements and improving its brand reputation and notoriety.
