Grupo Next is a platform for end users, supported by companies offering services or those companies interested in using the information generated by large vehicle connection (big data) to improve their business processes exponentially. One of the startup’s objective is to respond proactively to the needs of its customers, putting at their disposal all the tools to monitor consumption and expenses, and improve the efficiency of their cars.
Founded in 2015 by Javier Goikoetxea, whose professional background is linked to technology associated to vehicles, realised no companies were capturing automobile data to create solutions for the current market’s needs and problems.
BIG DATA AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
Through their technology, Grupo Next extracts a large amount of information generated by vehicles, opening a line of business oriented towards Big Data. The startup acts as a real-time marketplace, managing the information and events generated in the automobile sector. The data is monitored and transferred at the appropriate time, in order to solve any need in the field of mobility. This allows Next to offer its clients services focused on optimizing consumption and reducing costs.
INVESTMENT ROUNDS AND SUBSIDIARIES
To date Grupo Next has not participated in any acceleration program, although it has raised more than 4.5 million euros in five rounds of investment. 17 additional rounds of investments were carried out to enable internal developments. They currently make up about 80% of the company. Among its investors are large companies and investors such as Atres Media Corporación, Merino Family or Fides Capital. Microsoft, Ernst &Young, Telefonica and Orange are among some of the companies supporting this business.
Grupo Next also has a subsidiary Next Seguros, the first Spanish InsurTech which offers insurance policies based on the ‘pay per use’ model, so that users who make less than 10,000 km a year save heavily on premiums.
While their main focus in Spain, the Grupo Next also operates in Belgium, Chile, Mexico and Colombia, having a total of 10,000 users. In the future, this startup’s intention is to become the largest car IoT platform for the aftermarket.
