June closes with €282M invested in Spanish startups and 2021 now exceeds €2 billion

Investments

We are five months into 2021 and investment in Spanish startups already exceeds €2 billion, thanks in part to the €282 million raised in June. There has also been an upturn in the number of operations carried out, 190 to date, compared to 309 in 2020, and we expect the figure to exceed 400 operations this year.

Most of the money accumulated this year is being obtained mainly from the mega-rounds of well-known startups such as Jobandtalent, Idealista, Glovo, Wallapop and Travelperk, joined this month by the American startup with Spanish founders Capchase (€103m), Securitize (€40.36m) and Lingokids (€33m). Despite the outstanding rounds of the month, June is the second worst month of the year only ahead of May, which closed with €103 million.

Along with the three outstanding rounds in June, we would like to highlight other startups that continue to grow, such as Heura, which less than two years ago was one of the 10 finalists in the El Referente Awards and had raised less than €1 million to date; the fintech Payflow with a bright future and Fuell, which with its €1 million round continues its growth; and Antai’s latest project, the insurtech Vitaance.
