Accelerators and awards with open calls for entrepreneurs and startups

The last quarter of the year is one of the most active regarding acceleration open calls and specialized awards for startups and entrepreneurs. Which is why the magazine El Referente has compiled in the following report all the initiatives looking for innovative companies in order to incorporate them into their programs. Some of them end on October 31, while others will remain open until November and even December.

For the fourth consecutive year, the newspaper El Referente has launched its Investment Guide for Startups in that quarter due to the movement in the ecosystem. Below are details of each of the open initiatives, which also specify the types of projects they are looking for (many of them are sectoral), the registration deadlines set by each program and the direct link to the registration page.

OPEN CALLS

ABANCA has opened the third edition of the ABANCA Innova Program for startups, aimed at any type of startup in the Fintech, Insurtech, Regtech or Cibersecurity, sector, from those that are in very early stages to those that are more developed. The objective of the program is to carry out a proof of concept with ABANCA in which the fit of the startup value proposal is validated with both the entity and the market. The call will remain open until 19 November.

BFAerothe accelerator specialized in the aeronautical sector launches its second call, through which it seeks, for its incubation and acceleration, projects that provide innovative solutions in the aeronautical sector and unmanned vehicles; its aim is to attract national and international talent to Galicia. Anyone interested may apply here.

Business Factory Food (BFFood), the Galician food sector accelerator promoted by the Xunta de Galicia and energized by the Galician Food Cluster (Clusaga), has launched its second edition to attract talent and find ten new innovative projects in the acceleration phase that respond to the real challenges presented by companies in the food sector. The deadline for submission of initiatives will be open until  November 30 at 14.00 via the website.

CBRE, a leading real estate consultancy and services company, has kicked off the third edition of CBRE Proptech Challenge, the first European event to promote digital talent capable of revolutionizing the real estate sector through creative and innovative ideas. In this way, the consultancy offers the possibility for emerging companies in the sector to promote their projects and take advantage of the company’s network, as well as to express their opinion through its new platform. Chivas Venture, Chivas’s global competition, will distribute one million dollars to startups and entrepreneurs around the world whose projects combine benefits and positive social impact for the world. Registrations for Chivas The Venture 2020 are open until 31 October on its website.

GoHub Andalucía, the benchmark deep tech hub in Spain, has launched its open innovation program, encouraging Andalusian startups to jointly develop disruptive solutions that solve the sustainability challenge of the industries and cities of the future. Interested startups can now register via the website.

Impulsa Visión de RTVE has opened the registration period for its 5th call. The projects selected for the Radio Televisión Española startup accelerator will participate in the program with a maximum economic award of 30,000 Euro and a duration of nine months. The deadline for receipt of startup projects will be open until December 22, 2019 via the website

Ingram Micro Cloud has opened registration for Comet, its international startup contest. The contest is aimed at identifying innovative and revolutionary software companies (B2B) whose products have a clear application in the technology channel. In this second edition, $5,000,000 in awards and funds will be awarded to 64 independent software vendors (ISVs) in a series of 16 concurrent contests across five continents. Those interested in participating can do so until October 31.

La Nave launches the second call of the Acceleration Program aimed at already developed ideas, projects startups and entrepreneurs since it applies methodologies adapted to the phases and needs of each of the startups. They are looking for companies related to SmartCity, Health and Biotech, Education and sustainability, bioeconomics and circular economy. Proposals can be submitted before November 11 and you can register here.

Mercadona and Lanzadera encourage the development of companies capable of contributing to the sustainable development of the food chain in order to respond to society’s growing demand for care for the environment and  sustainability. Both have launched a Lanzadera Corporate Program, aimed at innovative entrepreneurs in the following 5 areas: healthy products, energy saving, elimination and reduction of plastic, urban distribution model and waste management. The program will be open until 4 November.

Program Minerva, in its seventh edition, will select a maximum of 30 technology projects that will have the opportunity to turn their ideas and projects into real business and launch themselves into the market. This time they will place special emphasis on initiatives led by women and senior entrepreneurs. The process for submitting applications is done telematically via the website.

Orizont, the agri-food accelerator created by Sodena (Sociedad de desarrollo de Navarra), has launched a new Macht Point call for startups and food innovation projects. The purpose of this edition is to create a bridge between startups and leading companies with innovation challenges. The call will remain open until November 11.

The EntrepreneurXXI Awards, of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, through Enisa, and CaixaBank, via DayOne, has announced a new edition of an initiative that aims to contribute to the development of young innovative companies, with less than three years of activity and high growth potential, in Spain and Portugal. Those interested in participating can submit their candidacy until December 4 via the website.

TrenLab announced during South Summit, its third call for mobility startups. In this new call for Renfe’s accelerator, three major challenges are launched: digitization, communication and customer experience. The call will be open until December 3.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in association with Globalia, a tourism group present in Spain and Latin America, have once again joined forces to launch, for the second consecutive year, the UNWTO Tourism Startup Competition. After the first edition, in which nearly 3,000 companies participated, the worldwide startup competition returns, dedicated to identifying the new companies that will lead the transformation of the sector.
