The Valencian startup PlayJoy Games, specialized in traditional video games and social casino, has closed a financing round of €330,000 with the aim of continuing to boost its international growth and expand its game catalog.
Created in 2018 by several founders and former Akamon employees (sold in 2015 for 23.7 million euros) and led by entrepreneur Daniel G. Blázquez, in just two years it has managed to carve out a relevant niche in the sector and expand into international markets like Mexico, Argentina, Brazil or Russia.
“Technology and devices have changed a lot in the 15 years of experience we have in the sector. At the time, we redefined many of the concepts of this type of computer platform. Today we have the opportunity to do the same on mobile phones, tablets and other smart devices ”, says Daniel G. Blázquez, CEO of PlayJoy.
PlayJoy combines the best of a messaging application like WhatsApp or Telegram, a social network and classic games like Chinchón, Parcheesi, Dominoes, Chúpate 2, Tute and Brisca. In the coming months they plan to launch more games such as Bingo, Slots, Belote (French game) and Buraco (Brazilian game).
The platform, available for mobile phones, tablets and on Playjoy.com, is the meeting point for a large community of players that interacts, shares experiences and above all competes. During 2020, due to confinement, this community experienced rapid growth, with more than 300,000 registered users mainly in Spain.
The project was born in the technological incubator No Spoon Lab and this capital increase has had the support of partners and collaborators from the previous stage, several Valencian business angels such as Jonatan Fatelevich and ESAT.
