Founded by Javier de la Torre and Sergio Alvarez in 2012, CARTO is a leading location intelligence software headquartered in New York, with offices in Madrid, Washington, London and Estonia. Its portfolio of 2,000 customers includes BBVA, BCG, New York City and Twitter and it counts with over 300,000 users around the globe.

The companys aim is to universalise access to location intelligence through powerful, flexible and easy-to-learn tools. Clients are able to solve spatial challenges with third party location data streams, advanced  spatial analysis, and interactive self-service Location Intelligence applications.  By putting their location data to work, clients can optimise business processes and predict future outcomes, leading to more efficient delivery routes, better behavioural marketing and strategic store placements.


CARTO has been awarded by Adigital 2014, Telefonicas Open Future, SGE (Spanish Geographic Society) in 2017 and Laus 2017.  Operating globally thanks to its direct channel network and its partner network, it has over 60 partners in over 36 countries.

CARTO has raised 31 million dollars in capital from two funding rounds (Series A in October 2014, Series B in September 2015). Accel Partners, Salesforce Ventures, Earlybird, Kibo Ventures and Vitamina K invested in the company.  CARTOs aim is toconsolidate growth and expansion in key markets, including the US and Europe, and subsequently, to expand through partners in Latin Amercia and Asia.
